The Dead Tree Still Lifts His Arms

The light is so much brighter when there is darkness around.  The shadows of darkness remain from our past or they creep in as we read the news or watch it on television. The terrorists cause fear to sweep into tomorrow when we see what they have already accomplished. When we get THE diagnosis that terrorize the peaceful plans and the dreams that the future held bright. Sudden darkness falls like a corrupting shadow of a once beautiful painting.

What to do when the darkness creeps in or when the light is flickering, flickering quietly, fading away? What do we do?

We look for the Light.

The Light that shines in the darkest of places and beckons you come. He still shines bright.

In the midst of the weeds, flowers rise up proclaiming glory.

Come to the place of seeing. See the light around you. Him. The God breathed beauty in pictures of glory around your day. The smells of food that provoke your taste buds to seep and the smell of the roses in the garden. Even in your neighbors garden. What can you see? See Him. He is Light. He is the one who relights your flame. Seek Him.

Psalm 105:4 says, ” Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always. Remember…….”

Remember what? Remember the dark and lonely days, the days of drear and fear? No. Let us, “Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles….”

Fungus, bacteria and algae do not usually provoke thoughts of beauty but the work of God’s hand is seen in the beauty of this lichen in Santa Rosa Plateau. Glory revealed in the amazing symbiotic relationship and the colors and shapes whisper His divine presence. Here. Working. Moving.

Let us turn our eyes on that which is praise worthy (Phil. 4:19). “Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts.”

Go the place of remembrance, a place that brings light.

I see this old tree with arms lifted high worshiping the King of Kings. He once waved with long arms, rustling and swaying and dancing in the wind.
