The greatest gift.
What image pops into our busy heads during this Christmas season when we hear the word “gift”? Oh, that gift for So and So and we can’t forget that relative or school teacher. There is so much hustle and bustle that we often forget waiting, watching in this Advent season.
Advent is the arrival of someone of importance.
Advent is the arrival of THE Great Someone.
Advent is the arrival of THE GIFT.
The greatest gift that we can receive and the greatest gift that we can give, it is He.
Let us wait, watch and remember the King has already come and He is coming again.
He came as a babe so long ago and this season is about Him. This season is about the story of creation and the long line of history leading to the Savior of the world and then the long awaited YOU. He came for you and me and He comes still to change our world, our worldview, our lives.
He loved you and is still loving you.
During this Advent season, I encourage you to pick up the word of God and pick up a rich devotional that points to The Gift and go deep with God.
I highly suggest Ann Voscamp’s, “Unwrapping The Greatest Gift: A Family Celebration of Christmas”.
The riches of the pictures do justice to the richness of the words within, guiding you through the journey of creation through His-tory and His Love for you and I.
Each day we open this book our hearts are stirred by the wonder of the Gift. We are awakened to God’s truths and challenged to share His love with the world around us.
I also suggest her adult version, “The Greatest Gift: Unwrapping The Full Love Story of Christmas”.
What are you reading this Advent season? What is drawing you near Jesus in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the American Christmas culture?
Oh, that our eyes would see Him and our lives be changed today.
P.S. If you decide to purchase these devotions please follow the link. It helps me out as I get a little bit back from Amazon. I am not paid to advertise for Ann. I just LOVE her books and want everyone else to read them!
