How tender is this defender of widows that He bends low to listen to the cries of our hearts. Oh, you weak one, fragile and ready to crack, He will not break you. He comes to bind you up and heal you. He sees you in the midst of your trouble and grief and He brings words of encouragement to tend to your soul. He listens to your cry. He. Sees. You. He fights for you.
There was this man Abram and his wife Sarai. God promised them a great promise but they got ansy and tried fulfilling God’s promise their own way rather than trust His time, His way. They inflicted drama and sorrow on a servant girl and then sent her away.
They. Sent. Her. Away.
Have you ever been sent away? Your white picket fence crushed?Do you know the piercing words of anger and hurt that cut through your heart and push you away?
He sees you!
The servant girl, Hagar, called God, “The God Who Sees Me”. He found her and He blessed her in spite of Abram and Sarai casting her out. God saw this servant girl and He sees you. He sees the injustices. He even sees your self inflicted sorrows and He loves you just the same.
He loves you right where you are, in the miry clay, damaged, broken, crippled in body and/or spirit, diseased and outcast, possessed by demons, sexually explicit, murderer in thought and action. The God of the universe loves you deeply, passionately, wholly. He came to draw you to Himself. He still comes to draw you.
You and me, we may not have the same past but we are all in need of the same thing; relationship with the only one who can satisfy. We were all created for Him, thus, life without Him will always leave us wanting. He alone sees our every care and pain. He alone can meet the need of the heart.
If you want to memorize these truths of God here are the reference verses:
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
“A bruised reed he will not break,
and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out.
In faithfulness he will bring forth justice”
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.”
“16 Then Jesus called for the children and said to the disciples, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children. 17 I tell you the truth, anyone who doesn’t receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.”
“7 The angel of the Lord found Hagar beside a spring of water in the wilderness, along the road to Shur. 8 The angel said to her, “Hagar, Sarai’s servant, where have you come from, and where are you going?”
“I’m running away from my mistress, Sarai,” she replied.
9 The angel of the Lord said to her, “Return to your mistress, and submit to her authority.” 10 Then he added, “I will give you more descendants than you can count……………..
13 Thereafter, Hagar used another name to refer to the Lord, who had spoken to her. She said, “You are the God who sees me.”[a] “
“The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners”.
Psalm 10: 14,17
“But you, O God, do see trouble and grief; you consider it to take it in hand. The victim commits himself to you; you are the helper of the fatherless.
“You hear, O Lord, the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry, defending the fatherless and the oppressed, in order that man, who is of the earth, may terrify no more.”
May God’s word dwell richly in our hearts that we would no longer believe the lies of those who have pierced us. You are precious. He was pierced so that we can be free.
